UMNUGOBI PROVINCE

Introduction to the province

  Umnugovi province was newly established in 1931 when the local government organization was changed, separating from the Bogd Khan and Tsetserleg mandl aimags. Currently, our province has 15 administrative units.

     The territory of the province is included in the Gobi Desert region and is located at an average altitude of 1300-1600 meters above sea level. Here, there are mountain ranges rising to 3000 meters above sea level, such as the continuation of the Altai Mountains, Gurvansaikhan Mountain, Sevrey Noyon Bogd, Nomgon, Tost, Nemegt, Altan Mountain, Gilbent, and the famous great gobi of Khongor, which extends for more than 100 km, and Galba, Borzon, Zeemeg, Zag, and Suuj, which are several hundred kilometers wide.
